1532–1597 Chronicler of the mission; author of the Historia de Japam Also written: Luís Fróis · ルイス・フロイス
The mission's great writer: his Historia de Japam and annual letters are the richest European record of sixteenth-century Japan, and his 1585 treatise on European-Japanese contrasts is still quoted in every survey of the period. He knew Nobunaga personally and wrote the classic eyewitness account of him.
