The Kentish pilot of the Dutch ship Liefde, wrecked on Kyushu in 1600, who became Tokugawa Ieyasu's adviser on ships, navigation, and the world beyond the Iberian version of it. As Miura Anjin he received a fief — and used his standing to undercut the Portuguese at every turn.
