Honda Masazumi
1565–1637
Ieyasu's chief councillor; the Okamoto affair broke in his house
Also written: Honda Masazumi · 本多正純
Son of Honda Masanobu and, with his father, the administrative core of Ieyasu's retirement court at Sunpu — foreign envoys from the Dutch to Vivero passed through his hands. It was his own retainer, Okamoto Daihachi, whose fraud detonated the 1612 scandal; Masazumi survived it, only to fall from grace under Hidetada in 1622.
